Fergas strengthens its sustainability efforts together with TKL
For Fergas North Europe, reducing its climate impact is a natural part of its work throughout the entire value chain. Together with TKL, the company works both with its transport solutions and with continuously improving its logistics operations, including load factors, consolidation, transport routes and delivery frequencies.
During 2025, Fergas switched to fossil-free fuels for all of its sea and air freight. Through this fuel switch, CO₂ emissions from the transports are reduced by up to 100 percent, without Fergas having to make any changes to its own operations.

Sustainability throughout the entire logistics chain
Transport is part of Fergas’ indirect climate impact. By setting requirements for its transport providers, the company aims to gradually reduce greenhouse gas emissions while creating better conditions for its long-term sustainability efforts. The certificates show how many tonnes of CO₂ have been reduced, and Fergas uses these figures in its sustainability reporting.
For Fergas, sustainable logistics is about more than the choice of fuel or an individual shipment. Together with TKL, the company continuously reviews load factors, opportunities for consolidation, transport routes and delivery frequencies. This work has been ongoing for many years and is aimed at improving the logistics operation as a whole.
Would like to see greater demand for fossil-free transport
Fergas would like to see more companies begin requesting fossil-free transport solutions. At present, customer demand specifically for fossil-free transport remains limited, but Fergas sees its own efforts as an opportunity both to influence the development of the market and to strengthen the company’s competitiveness over time.
By communicating the measures being taken, the company hopes to contribute to increased demand for more sustainable transport alternatives.
Personal contact and knowledge of the business
The collaboration between Fergas and TKL is not only about individual shipments or certificates.
An important part of the partnership is the knowledge of Fergas’ operations and supplier structure that has been built up over time.

Certificates for carbon insetting
The work together with TKL has resulted in certificates for carbon insetting – emissions reductions made within the company’s own value chain by replacing fossil fuels with biofuels in the actual transports, as opposed to carbon offsetting through external projects.
To ensure that the fuel switch is carried out correctly, the process is reviewed by an independent auditing firm. Once it has been verified that a transport has been allocated the relevant biofuel, a certificate is issued confirming that biofuel has replaced fossil fuel and stating how many tonnes of CO₂ have consequently been reduced.
Fergas describes the process as simple and straightforward, while its work with sustainable transport forms part of a much longer-standing collaboration between the two companies.
Work that delivers tangible results
When asked whether Fergas would recommend TKL’s fossil-free transport solutions to other companies, the answer is clear:
